Directions to Dundrennan

By road

From south: Immediately after you pass the “Welcome to Scotland” sign on M6 motorway, turn off on the slip road signed to A75 Dumfries and Stranraer.  After 25 miles, turn right at the roundabout along the A75 Dumfries by-pass.

From north:  Take M74/A74 to Moffat and turn off on A701 to Dumfries.  After 16 miles, Dumfries by-pass, turn right at the roundabout along the A75 Dumfries by-pass towards Castle Douglas and Stranraer.

At the last “Garroch” roundabout on the A75 by-pass (1.5 mi west of Dumfries) turn sharp left and follow signs to Dalbeattie A711.   Follow the A711 for 24 miles turning left after the narrow bridge just past Dalbeattie (13 mi), to reach Dundrennan.

By public transport

Arrive by train at Dumfries station from Carlisle (connections from all destinations) or from Glasgow. There is a regular bus to Dalbeattie (501) departing from Whitesands, about 10 min walk. From Dalbeattie, there is a less frequent service (505) to Dundrennan from outside the Maxwell Arms Hotel.

There are also bus/coach services to Dumfries from Glasgow (X74), Edinburgh (100), and from London Victoria (National Express).

The nearest airport is Glasgow Prestwick (70 mi), with others at Glasgow, Edinburgh (both 100 mi), and Newcastle (115 mi).
